Administrative Council

The primary program‐planning body of the church, charged with envisioning, coordinating and evaluating ministry in the realms of nurture, outreach and witness, while also overseeing organizational and financial life.

Meets 2nd Tuesdays at 7pm

Berna Dean Steptoe, Chair

Children & Youth

Provides faith‐forming experiences, age-appropriate teaching, mission/service opportunities and safe environments for children and young people to grow as disciples of Christ.

Avillin Hinton, Chair

Christian Education

Facilitates lifelong learning, spiritual formation and growth through Sunday School, Bible study, small-groups and other educational offerings for all ages.

Church Historian

Preserves and curates the story, records, artifacts and legacy of CWUMC so future generations can honor the past and build a purposeful future.

Barbara Stanley

Communications & Digital Ministry Team

Manages internal and external communications, digital platforms (website, social media, live stream), branding and outreach technologies to further the church’s message and connection.

Lisa Cooper, Chair

Communion Stewards

Prepares and serves the sacrament of communion with reverence, ensures proper supplies, supports worship leadership and helps maintain the integrity of this sacred act.

Confirmation

Guides youth through a structured journey of faith exploration and commitment, equipping them with theological understanding and belonging as full participants in the body of Christ.

Jonathan and Tiffany Thomas, Chair

Creative Arts Ministry

Employs music, drama, dance, visual arts and other creative expressions to enhance worship, engage community and reflect the beauty of God’s creativity in meaningful forms.

Cynthia Hinton, Chair

Finance Committee

Oversees the stewardship of financial resources: budgeting mission and ministry, tracking and disbursing funds, establishing financial policies and ensuring accountability through audits and transparent practices.

Gemeral Berry, Chair

Lay Ministry

Equips laity to serve and lead in the many ministries of the church: evangelism, hospitality, visitation, small-group facilitation, and other leadership roles grounded in giftedness and call.

Steve Stanley, Lay Leader

Member Nurture

Cultivates hospitality, relational care, spiritual formation and fellowship among members—helping each person feel known, connected and supported within the church family.

Music Ministry

Inspires worship and lifts hearts through congregation singing, choir, instrumental ensembles and special music, nurturing both excellence and accessibility in praise.

One Plus One

A mentorship and small-group ministry pairing newer members with seasoned disciples, fostering personal growth, accountability, intentional connection and mutual encouragement.

Outreach

Engages the neighborhood, city and world in service, mission, advocacy and compassion—bringing the gospel into action through community partnerships, justice work and hands-on ministry.

Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee

Supports and collaborates with the pastor(s) and staff by clarifying ministry expectations, caring for their well-being, facilitating evaluation, and nurturing healthy teamwork.

Trustee Board

Maintains church facilities, property, insurance, risk management, building usage and long-term planning for safe, welcoming spaces that support ministry.

United Methodist Men

Builds Christian fellowship, leadership and service among men of the congregation, encouraging discipleship, stewardship and community engagement.

United Women in Faith

Encourages spiritual growth, leadership development and mission engagement among women, mobilizing service and resources locally and globally.

Usher Board

Greets worshippers, facilitates orderly and meaningful worship experience, provides hospitality, assists with seating and elements of worship logistics, embodying welcome.
